Bruins needed everyone to get through Round 1 against Hurricanes

It's no exaggeration to say whichever team wins the second round series between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning should be the Eastern Conference representative in the Stanley Cup Final. No offense to the New York Islanders or the Philadelphia Flyers, but the two best teams in the East will be playing each other beginning Sunday night for the right to get to the Eastern Conference Final.

Bruins win without Rask, take 2-1 lead over Hurricanes
Riley Nash and Eric Robinson scored for the Blue Jackets, and Joonas Korpisalo made 31 stops after piling up 121 saves in the first two games of the series, including a five-overtime loss Tuesday night. The Lightning outshot Columbus 34-17, including 16-4 in the second period. Game 4 is Monday.

NHL playoffs to resume; Bruins to play Lightning Saturday at 12 pm
The NHL’s second-round playoff series will resume with three games each on Saturday and Sunday after players prompted the league to postpone two days of action to protest racial injustice. In the NHL’s Eastern Conference hub city of Toronto, Tampa Bay and Boston will play Game 4 of their series on Saturday, followed by Philadelphia and the New York Islanders playing Game 3 at night. Vegas and Vancouver will play Game 3 of their series at night in the West hub city of Edmonton, Alberta.

The pressure of overtime hardly fazes the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have been as resilient as any team in the NHL playoffs. Ondrej Palat scored less than five minutes into yet another extra period for the second-seeded Lightning, who beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Tuesday to even their Eastern Conference semifinal series at one game apiece. Tampa Bay improved to 4-0 in overtimes games this postseason, including a five-OT win during the team's first-round victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
