Riner has a complete other preparation as in 2021
Teddy Riner is 35 years old and about to compete in his 5th Games. Telma Monteiro (POR), Ryoko Tani (JPN), Robert VandeWalle (BEL) and Driulis Gonzalez (CUB) have five participations. Teddy Riner (FRA) and Idalys Ortiz (CUB) and can get equal at five.

Strong Portuguese team at first Judo Grand Prix of 2023
The Judo Grand Prix in Portugal is the first highly anticipated event and will see some of the world’s best judoka competing in the city of Almada. This event will bring together some of the best judoka from around the world, with a particular emphasis on the Portuguese athletes. The first day of the event will be next Friday at 27th of January and will last for three days. Leading the way for the Portuguese judoka will be Catarina Costa and Telma Monteiro at the first day, followed by Barbara Timo as top competitor for Portugal and on the third and last day Rochele Nunes and Jorge Fonseca will compete for the home crowd.

Christa Deguchi untouchable to gold in Baku
Portuguese Telma Monteiro, winner of uncountable World Judo Tour medals and with an array of Olympic victories and a staggering continental domination showed the judo community that she isn’t done yet. With a silver medal today in Baku she shows she is ready for this Olympic qualification. She overcame Samardzic (BIH), Ilieva (BUL) and Libeer (BEL) all fell at her say-so and a place in the final against Christa Deguchi awaited her.

Bilodid, Pupp and Monteiro victims of prelims at Sofia Europeans
Some surprising developments at the preliminaries of the first day of the European Championships in Sofia where Daria Bilodid made her comeback in the scene after her Olympic bronze medal and her horrifying situation in her country. Bilodid moved to Spain where she was able to train at the Valencia Judo Club and she moved up to the weight category U57kg, but it wasn’t a big success.
