Marusa Stangar claims two GPs gold medals in a row
Already a winner in Linz a week ago, Marusa Stangar arrived in Dushanbe full of confidence for the Grand Prix. Although not in the top four seeds of the category, she was able to take advantage of her first contests to get into the rhythm and reach the final. At 25, Marusa has reached the maturity that now allows her to tackle competitions on the international circuit with self-confidence and determination, climbing the ranking list positions one by one, to now be 19th in the world, a position that will not fail to evolve after the grand prix in Tajikistan.

Marusa Stangar wins second Grand Prix five years later
Slovenian gold medallist U48kg Marusa Stangar (SLO) is far from being an unknown. Already the holder of seven medals on the world circuit and two world junior medals (silver and bronze), she took a career highlight in the TIPS Arena in Linz on Thursday. Her last significant result on the World Judo Tour dates back to November 2022, during the Baku Grand Slam with a bronze medal, and then to 2021 with a third place at the Tbilisi Grand Slam.

Daria Bilodid catches gold in Abu Dhabi Grand Slam
Double world champion Daria Bilodid of the Ukraine won her third Grand Slam title in as many Grand Slam outings as the Ukrainian teenager was unstoppable in Abu Dhabi. European Games bronze medallist Marusa Stangar (SLO), who holds a 2016 win over the prodigy, struggled to offer any resistance and could not escape a sankaku-gatame hold as Bilodid rushed to glory in the first final of the competition.
