Madina Taimazova surprises Arai and herself with Grand Slam victory
Kazan's Grand Slam saw a surprise in the semi finals for women U70kg. If the two Japanese women who competed on the first day of competition fulfilled their contract perfectly by winning the gold medals, the story was not the same for Arai Chizuru.

Maria Portela wins third career Grand Slam
It was not good to be among the top favourites in the -70kg group, as many of them were eliminated from the competition prematurely. The first finalist is however not a newcomer, Maria Portela (BRA), already having a good prize list to her credit with 9 grand slam medals so far, before the start of today's final. In front of her, a young Russian, Madina Taimazova, already a finalist in Doha this year and who, with each of her outings, shows more and more confidence.

Yoko Ono class on her own in Doha
Unchosen Yoko Ono was clear in her ambition to show she belongs to the top of the world. Ono won all her matches convincingly. The surprise in the final was Russian Madina Taimazova resisted well during normal time, but the golden score period was too much for the young Russian, who had to suffer a defeat by hold down in less than two minutes of golden score.

Mami Asahi defeats Taimazova in Junior World final U70kg
Asahi Mami of Japan arrived in Marrakech with just a bronze medal at the Leibnitz Junior European Open 2019 on her record. But on the third day of competition at the Junior worlds, she entered the final against the finalist of the last Universiade, Madina Taimazova (RUS). Asahi's left-handed uchi-mata seemed to take the lead, even if it failed to score.
