Luka Mkheidze sets the tone for 2024
The support of the public at the 50st Grand Slam in Paris was obviously an additional strength for Luka Mkheidze, who did not miss the opportunity to beat the world champion to reach the final. The public could rejoice! However, there was still an important step to take for the Marseillaise to resound in the Accor Hotel Arena. This challenge was called Harim Lee (KOR), a bronze medallist at the Doha 2023 World Championships and victor against Yung Wei Yang (TPE) in the semi-final on Friday.

Yamato Fukuda surprises with gold in Portugal
The grand prix in Portugal represents the first stage of the World Judo Tour rocket. Then there are the grand slams, the World Judo Masters and of course the world championships but in judo you can rule the world one day and fall the next. Thus, Harim Lee bowed out to the young Yamato Fukuda (JPN). Aged only 18, Fukuda is making great progress.

Lee Ha-rim takes another gold for Korea
Korea remains strong in the lightweight class. Last year in Doha’s Masters it was Kim Won-Jin, this time Lee Ha-Rim showed to be the best. In the final he was exposed to Ryuju Nagayama (JPN), already crowned twice at the Masters (2017 and 2019). The least we can say is that this competition is particularly successful for this Japanese judoka and he left no chance for his opponent to reach the final, winning comfortably to bring him a third Masters final, this time facing Harim Lee of Korea.
