Yoko Ono retires
Yoko Ono, 32, has just announced her retirement from competition. Interestingly, at 5th place in the IJF World Rankings, she is ranked higher than her compatriots Saki Niizoe (9th) and Shiho Tanaka (19th). Ono is one of the most stylish players in world judo.

Madina Taimazova has golden start in Olympic qualification
Madina Taimazova arrived in Mongolia as the first seed and did not stop until the final. The other finalist of the Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar is 32-year old Yoko Ono, ten years older than Taimazova. Yoko Ono submits Kim Polling for fourth Grand Slam title
Former world bronze medallist Ono Yoko tapped out Abu Dhabi Grand Slam winner Kim Polling (NED) with shime-waza in added time to deny the Dutch star back-to-back Grand Slam wins on the IJF World Judo Tour. Ono kept her feint Olympic ambitions alive by beating four-time Grand Slam winner Polling who was caught with ashi-waza with 17 seconds left for a waza-ari score.
