Golden Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard strong in Tbilisi
Number one seed, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard started her engines after a rather balanced first 3 minutes of the final in Tbilis for women U63g against last year's European bronze medallist, Angelika Szymanska (POL). The last minute was fast approaching, when Beauchemin-Pinard managed to launch her seoi-otoshi for an important waza-ari.

Angelika Szymanska sets career best performance in Baku
In the absence of competitors like the world number one, Lucy Renshall (GBR), the 2022 world champion, Megumi Horikawa (JPN), or the six-time world champion Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA), the Grand Slam of Baku was quite open in the category U63kg, although the category presented a very high level in Baku. Angelika Szymanska (POL) reached the final after her victory against Austrian Lubjana Piovesana in the semi final. Szymanska’s opponent was Hungarian Szofi Ozbas.

Gili Sharir gives Israel Olympic medal hope
The U63kg final in Paris saw Japanese Nabi Nabekura facing Gili Sharir (ISR), who also did not leave many chances to her opponents of the day. Solid against the Korean Chaewon Shin in the first round, she clung to her prize list, defeating Manon Deketer (FRA) and an emphatic win especially against Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard (CAN) in the quarter-finals, before winning ahead of Angelika Szymanska (POL) in her semi-final. The opposition between Nabekura and Sharir promised to be explosive.
