Elena Dengg fourth ever Junior World Champion for Austria
At the Junior World Championships Austria won the jackpot on day three in Dushanbe, the first gold medal since 2011 was for Elena Dengg. The last time to win the world title in this category was Bernadette Graf.

Surprise developments in prelims at women's division U63kg
The queen is back at the Games and she wants to retain ownership of the title. Clarisse Agbegnenou has won a world title since becoming a mum and now wants the ultimate crown too. Seeded 6th, she is everyone’s nightmare in the fourth quarter and in the morning session she proved it.

Yeldos Smetov earns crown on his career
Yeldos Smetov was one of the serious contenders for gold in Paris 2024. He was after all, a former World Champion and a double Olympic medalist. He’s also a former Asian Games champion and has won seven gold medals in the IJF World Tour. But at 31 years of age and unseeded at No. 22, he was past his prime.

Flagbearers in judo: Krisztian Toth (HUN)
Krisztián Tóth of Hungary, who won a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 and marked Hungary's 500th Olympic medal, will be carrying the flag for his country at the Paris Olympic Games. The Hungarian judo team will appear with eight judoka in Paris, consisting of three women and five men. Tóth's ambition is to become the first Hungarian to win two senior Olympic judo medals.

Game on for Swedish coach Sally Conway
After winning Olympic bronze in Rio in 2016, Sally Conway is now the coach of the Swedish team. She transitioned from Edinburgh to the Swedish adventure in early 2022, but she couldn't have predicted that Sweden would once again send two remarkable athletes to the 2024 Paris Olympics. With Tara Babulfath, Sweden has a significant talent and medal contender. Notably, Babulfath won bronze at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi this year in the 48kg category at the age of 18. She is the third youngest participant in these games.

Kristina Dudina motivated for future success after surprise title
In the -48kg category at the European Championships, 19-year-old Kristina Dudina of Russia surprised everyone with a gold medal victory. Despite being the bronze medalist at last year's Junior World Championships, Dudina clinched the gold by defeating France's Blandine Pont in the final. Dudina follows in the footsteps of the Individual Neutral Athletes' Daria Kurbonmamadova, who won the European title last year. The last Russian lightweight to achieve this feat was Irina Dolgova in 2018.
