Shady El Nahas wins Panamerican Oceania title in Lima
Shady El Nahas won the gold medal U100kg at the Judo Pan-American Championships on Saturday in Lima, Peru. El Nahas performed flawlessly in his three fights of the day, wrapping up with a victory over Brazil’s Rafael Buzacarini in the gold medal final. He has been coveting it for a long time, and now, he is finally wearing it.

Kentaro Iida honours coach Inoue with gold
In the final of the men’s U100kg at Brasilia’s Grand Slam Kentaro Iida (WRL 15) had the measure of Rafael Buzacarini (BRA-WRL-22) as the Japanese youngster impressed his coach and legendary champion Inoue Kosei. The 21-year-old, who has often been dubbed the ‘new Inoue’, has a devastating uchi-mata just like this mentor but it was his morote-seoi-nage which earned his second Grand Slam gold medal with 64 seconds remaining on the clock.
