The great Tato Grigalashvili shows off with golden performance
In the -81kg category, Tato Grigalashvili of Georgia displayed incredible motivation to reclaim his title, achieving victory in just 44 seconds. The current World Champion was determined to secure the gold, and his strong hiza guruma technique secured him the 2024 title, leaving opponent Frank De Wit of the Netherlands with the silver.

David Karapetyan convinces with Grand Slam gold
Frank de Wit was back in a Grand Slam final. But the Dutchman had David Karapetyan as opponent in the final. From the start of the final, it wouldn’t go the distance, as both judoka were taking risks to throw. With one minute remaining, the first score came from Karapetyan after a confused sequence that led to a counter-attack. Karapetyan controlled the last seconds to win his first grand slam gold medal. It was a full four minutes after all.

Olympic Games Judo preview U78kg
After Kayla Harrison took two Olympic gold medals U78kg in London in 2012 and Rio in 2016, it is now up to follow up the current MMA star. Japan have only won this category once, in 2004 by Noriko Anno. Since the 1988 Olympic Games (category U72kg) a variation of countries with double winners such as Belgium, China and in fact the USA wit double olympic champ Kayla Harrison.

Sweden outperforms at World Championships
Swedish fairy tales have been said to be straightforward and sincere, with those of good heart, quick wit and honesty living happily ever after. Such was the case for the Swedish national team at this year's World Judo Championships in Hungary. Coach Robert Eriksson was finally able to harvest from the long job and success in Budapest.

Tato Grigalashvili pushes his candidacy for an Olympic medal
Tato Grigalashvili is the revelation of men’s judo. He dominates the category U81kg with attractive judo and at the IJF Judo Masters in Doha the Georgian superstar was again convincing and grabbed the gold in the final against the gutsy Dutchman Frank de Wit.
