Guram Tushishvili crowns stellar Georgian judo day
The first known final of the day in Tbilisi was that of the men's heavyweights, which featured a thrilling match between Ushangi Kokauri (AZE) and Guram Tushishvili (GEO). This final was enough to delight the public who came en masse to attend the third day of competition, between the two finalists of the 2018 world championships (Silver for Kokauri and gold for Tushishvili). A little air of revenge therefore reigned in the Olympic Sport Palace Tbilisi for the last contest of the weekend.

Inal Tasoev doesn't need much time to finish with gold
Much was expected of recent world champion Inal Tasoev (AIN). With his world title he should be able to keep control in Ulaanbaatar, and so he did and captured the gold medal of the Grand Slam. Two waza-ari, from an uchi-mata concluded on the ground against Jaegu Youn (KOR) in the first round, set the tone. In the next round, Tasoev eliminated Adil Orazbayev (KAZ) and Ushangi Kokauri (AZE) in the semi-finals. The world champion had all the cards in hand to get on the top step of the podium again, although Kim disagreed.

Heavyweights of five different countries won the last five Paris tournaments
The final of the Grand Slam in Paris was unprecedented, without French or Japanese in the crowned category. It was as if the Mongolian Tsetsentsengel Odkhuu and the Azerbaijani Ushangi Kokauri had the wrong party, but no, it wasn't about that. They were consistent, they won their fights firmly and showed no weaknesses.

They know what it is to be World Championships runner-up
Today lots of World silver medallists celebrate their birthday. Johan Laats, Dex Elmont and Ushangi Kokauri know what it is to take silver. You don’t win silver, they realized they have lost that last contest that gave them everlasting fame. Still we think they have proved to be a top judoka.

Heavyweight talent Tatsuru Saito claims Baku gold
On Friday Keiji Suzuki told us about Tatsuru Saito and we were very interested in seeing him in detail. He told us he's good. In fact, Keiji could have added that he is very good, pointing towards prodigy: 19 years old, 1.93cm and 168 kilos. Well, the boy moves with surprising agility. In Baku he eliminated the two representatives of Azerbaijan from the outset and one of them, Ushangi Kokauri, was runner-up in the world four years ago.
