Aaron Wolf, triple crown winner, set to retire
Aaron Wolf does not have the iconic status of someone like Shohei Ono or Hifumi Abe but he is actually in the company of a very rare group of Japanese champions who have won the so-called Triple Crown of judo: the Olympics, the World Championships and the All-Japan (Open Weight) division. And he is set to retire this year.

World’s Judo Elite to Gather in Mittersill for Olympic Training Camp
The registration deadline for the OTC officially closed just before Christmas, but late entries are still being received. Among the last-minute additions is a delegation from Scotland, featuring none other than Japanese judo legend Shohei Ono. Known as one of the greatest judokas of all time, Ono, 32, is a double Olympic champion, three-time world champion, and went unbeaten on the IJF World Tour for an astonishing 79 months. Currently working as a coach in Scotland, Ono expressed his desire to participate in the camp as a trainer.

Azeri trailblazer Rustam Orujov announces farewell to judo
Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan has officially announced his retirement. The 2016 Rio Olympic Games runner up U73kg also competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games where he finished fifth. At those Olympic Games he carried the flag for his country at the opening ceremony. He lost to the later Olympic Champion Shohei Ono at both Olympic Games.

IJF Olympic portrait: Shinji Hosokawa
Shinji Hosokawa won Olympic gold 1984 in Los Angeles and in 1985 the world championships in Seoul. He was coach of Tadahiro Nomura at Tenri University and Shohei Ono and Joshiro Maruyama. Hosokawa is now a member of the IJF Education and Coaching Commission member. Hosokawa is a true tomoe-nage expert. Because of his short stature many players like to try uchimata on him. He developed a knack for uchimata-sukashi because of this.
