Another mindblowing comeback for Marcus Nyman
At the Grand Slam final U90kg two surprising names including the comeback of Swedish veteran Marcus Nyman who made his appearance after more than a year on the tatami, his first IJF event since the Olympic Games. His opponent in Baku was Nemanja Majdov who had a clear strategy for the final, to outgrip the Swede and cancel out his physical onslaught.

Consecutive gold for revived Marcus Nyman
The final for men U90kg at the Grand Slam in Antalya had two strong candidates for the gold medal in Marcus Nyman (SWE) and Toth Krisztian (HUN). Nyman was winner in Tbilisi last week and Toth bronze medallist in Tashkent and Tel Aviv earlier this year. Judo fans witnessed an interesting final, a clash of two athletes with totally different styles, due to their different morphology.

Marcus Nyman strikes gold in Tbilisi
Sweden's big man Marcus Nyman won his third Grand Slam gold in Tbilisi. The man who quite twice in his career is still among the best athletes with his specialty his groundwork. Ten years ago in Düsseldorf he won his first IJF World Judo Tour gold medal, more than a decade later he can still strike. Although the average age of the medallist in Tbilisi was high he was the oldest man to win gold.

Judo in the time of Covid-19: Tommy Macias
Current European Champion Tommy Macias is equal to Marcus Nyman the most successful judoka in the history of Sweden. However a medal at World Championships or Olympic Games is still lacking. Marcus Nyman found pleasure and the way to the medals
Marcus Nyman quite judo twice, but twice he found the way to the sportshall and has enough talent to make it to the top of the world. He proved it at the Worlds in Tokyo where he was close to the medals, but in Tashkent no one could stop the experienced Swede on his way to gold.
