Unique Dutch heavyweight final won by Jelle Snippe
For the first time ever in the IJF World Tour the Netherlands had two finalist in the heayvyweight category. Two Dutch athletes qualified after struggling tooth and nail during the preliminaries. Jelle Snippe was the one who this time grabbed gold in Antalya after being in the Paris final this year against Teddy Riner. This edition Roy Meyer was his opponent. Unique final, something that neither Henk Grol vs Roy Meyer, or Jur Spijkers didn’t even realise together.

Lukas Krpalek now takes gold after silver twice in Abu Dhabi
The heavyweight final of the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi had Lukas Krpalek to face Dutchman Jur Spijkers, who has already established himself at the top of the Dutch heavyweights. Spijkers is European champion and he also won in Zagreb. In Abu Dhabi he reached his first grand slam final but in a short time he has earned his status as number one heavyweight in his country.

Jur Spijkers continues gold hunger at the highest level
Dutchman Jur Spijkers grabbed the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb, another great victory for Spijkers who captured the European title in April as well. In the final he defeated Odkhuu of Mongolia. The gold gave the netherlands the victory in the medal table in Zagreb.

Jur Spijkers smells Olympic chances after golden start in Zagreb
The last final of the Grand prix in Zagreb and of the competition saw Jur Spijkers of The Netherlands and Vladut Simionescu (ROU) compete for gold. They were the top seeded competitors of the category and won all their matches by ippon. Spijkers will go for his chances. He beat Roy Meyer previously and Henk Grol retired in his division. Nonetheless an international gold medal is the first way to start the pace.
